I haven’t been posting and I apologize for that. I will continue soon, though. I’m just going to fix my blog and try to figure out a few things and then I’ll start posting frequently again! So my blog will be under construction for a good two or three days.
Selena lay awake in the darkness of her room. Her deep, brown colored hair was let loose, locks all scattered around on her pillow. There was a dim light that stretched across the wooden floor from the small closet opposite her. She felt the tears gradually making their way down the plump of her swollen cheeks. She counted each one. A soft sigh came out her mouth, almost audible to her ears.
He always did this.
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. No, she was lucky enough not to be one of those “forever alone,” people this year, but she the luck did her no good when she did absolutely nothing all day. She had been dating her best friend, Justin for about a good eighth months, and she knew he wasn’t into the whole Valentine’s Day thing, but she still thought he’d do something for her since she was his girlfriend. What they did all day yesterday? They fought.
The tears kept falling. She accused him for never trying hard enough for her when all she wanted to do was take care of him. She didn’t want anything big to be done, but he didn’t even come visit her and he ignored her at school. So now she lay in bed, wondering why she was such an idiot. She shook her head and sat up a little, wiping her damp cheeks with the sleeves of her light pink sweater. No.
She wouldn’t blame herself for anything. She had every right to be mad at him, and she was going to stand her ground. He could do whatever he wanted. He’d have to make up for it big time. After all, he was being a jerk. Selena looked over to her digital clock as the numbers 11:11 blinked in a bold red color. She sat up straight, clutching her blanket to herself, and closed her eyes. She wasn’t into making wishes, but it was worth a shot.
Her eyes lingered fluttering for a few seconds after she whispered quietly to herself, “Please, make him realize that he’s upset me. Make him want to make it up to me…” It sounded loud in the small room. She opened her eyes and rolled them slightly, as another tear fell down her cheek. “Whatever,” she said, searching for her Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. “Wishes don’t come true, it’s just bull shit.” She couldn’t find it. That was odd. And her Minnie Mouse was missing too.
Letting out a soft groan, she got out of bed and tied her hair up high. Her parents were still probably out at dinner, and she was hungry. Placing her hand on her slim waist as her stomach growled, she walked downstairs and into the kitchen and turned on the light. She jumped right then, her back pressing up against the wall.
Her Mickey Mouse stuffed animal was seated there, staring back at her. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she walked toward it and picked it up. There was a paper heart seated underneath it. She picked up the red piece and red the bold, black writing on it. “Help Mickey get 2 Minnie.” There was another one on the counter. “He left a rose for her, but didn’t want it to die. What would preserve it?” she said to herself. Selena looked around, “Okay, mom, Brian, this isn’t funny!” she said a little louder. She walked over to the fridge and opened it to find a single red rose set in the middle with another paper heart. She grabbed both of them, moving the paper heart with the other two in her hand. “Part of his dinner reservations got scattered as he ran to look for her :(“ Selena let out a laugh. She saw a pizza box on the kitchen counter on the other side and walked over to it with relief. She was hungry. “Thanks, you guys. I was hungry,” she said, rolling her eyes. She looked around and there was still no sight of her parents. After lifting the lid, her smile got replaced with a frown. It was empty, instead there was another heart. It was much smaller. “All romance movies seem to take place in the summer. Remember what your summer consisted of?” There was another one she hadn’t noticed that was in the box. “Make your way to that special place, follow the hearts,” she repeated. “Follow what hearts?”
Selena moved toward the dining room and looked at the trail of paper hearts leading toward the glass door that revealed the mild California winter. She picked the one close to her foot up, “I,” and then the next one at the screen door. “Am.” The light from outside was open. That was odd. But she was enjoying this. She stepped outside and saw another heart. “Sorry.” Then she followed the path along the side and made her way onto the cobble stone pathway her mother had planted to lead to their pool. “Please,” she picked it up. And another one, “Forgive,” after walking a few feet she came into the opening, “Me.”
She looked up with her Mickey Mouse stuffed in her arms with the rose and the paper hearts. His bright brown eyes were staring back at her.
Justin started to smile at her. “You helped Mickey find Minnie,” he grinned, nodding to the stuffed Minnie Mouse next to him.
Seeing Justin standing there made her raise her eyebrow. “I thought you weren’t into this whole Valentine’s Day thing.”
He just stared at her. She watched as he raised his hands. He was holding a bunch of red paper hearts in his hands. All of a sudden, he ripped them, letting the pieces fall to the floor. His eyes were still on her. “I’m not. I don’t need a special day to show you what you mean to me,” he walked closer to her. “I want to be able to do that every day.”
Selena placed the things in her arms on the small patio table, keeping the rose in her hands. She raised it. “Is this for me?”
Justin chuckled softly and nodded. He shrugged. “I love you,” he walked closer to her and gently lifted her chin so her brown eyes met his lighter ones. His fingers moved to the side of her cheek and started caressing it. “God, you’re beautiful,” he whispered.
She felt a rush of color come over her cheeks. This caused her gaze to move towards her feet. “Ew, I’m not even wearing makeup,” she mumbled.
Justin saw her lips resisting the urge to smile. He wrapped his other arm around her lower waist. “I thought Drake made it clear, sweatpants, hair-tied, chilling with no make-up on?” He leaned in so his lips brushed against hers slightly. “You’re perfect, Sel,” Justin said before merging his lips with hers softly. She felt safe in his arms like this, and kissed him back just as slowly and softly as he was kissing her.
The butterflies from the first time they kissed had returned.
They both pulled away smiling.
“I hope you know, you’re my Valentine every day of the year, all year,” he smiled. “I’m sorry for ever disappointing you. I appreciate everything you do,” he said everything softly. Selena was just twirling the rose in her fingers. “I know I don’t show it, but I do.” He began to walk backwards, picking up the Mickey from next to them and placing it next to Minnie. “But hey,” he grinned. “I bought pizza, and your favorite, macaroni and cheese.” His smile widened. He opened the lid and turned to look at her.
Selena just stood there as a smile crept onto her face, slowly.
“Thanks for being my Valentine, baby.”
She stood there standing, staring at the boy she was in love with. She didn’t want to admit it to herself, and never to him, but she was. Looks like her wish had come true after all. “I love you, Justin.” She walked over and let herself take the slice of pizza out of his hands as they both smiled.
Their relationship might not be perfect, but he was perfect for her. And she knew she was perfect for him.

This sucked. Thoughts?

Selena leaned back against her seat and had her Chemistry book open as she finished writing the last word on her vocabulary list, she looked up from her book and down at the rink. A few players in black were on the ice, fooling around with their sticks. Then came a boy in a red jersey. He slid toward one of the other players and greeted them. Selena caught him look at her and smiled at him as he smiled back and raised his hand in response.
Selena laughed and waved back. She wondered what he thought about the night of New Year’s Eve, about what happened… and how she ran. She liked how he didn’t ask her anything about it. She kept watching him slide gracefully along the ice and practice with the other players. He was really into it.
“Hey, crazy haired girl?” A voice from behind her emerged. She sat up and looked over her shoulder, startled by the boy.
She smiled. “In the flesh, once again,” Selena replied, closing her book. She scrunched her eyebrows slightly, looking at him as he stood on the step next to her aisle of seats. “What are you doing here?” She bit her tongue gently as she realized that it was stupid of her to ask that.
He laughed and leaned back on the seat in the aisle in front of her, facing her. “My dad owns it.”
Selena’s eyes widened. “Really? This place seems really cool.”
“Oh, believe me, there’s more to it than the eye catches,” he winked. “But I believe the question is, what are you doing here?”
Selena averted her gaze toward Justin and then back at Tanner. “I came with a friend.” She smiled at him. A slight vibration went off in the atmosphere around her. She watched Tanner reach down and check his phone. He looked back at her.
“You’re doing pretty good for your first day of school,” he smiled at her, raising his hand in front of her, palm out, “High five.”
The corner’s of Selena’s mouths began to tug into a smile as she slapped his palm with hers gently, letting out a small laugh. “Thanks.”
“Well, I better get going. See you around.” He smiled at her once more and left. Selena thought he wondered if he had developed an interest in her, or if it was the other way around, but she just shook her head. He was just being polite. Yes, that’s what she was going to tell herself.
***
Selena was about to get out of Justin’s car before he stopped her. “What are you doing? No,” he laughed. “I have to be the gentleman and help you out. Bro code. Don’t move,” he flashed her a smile and got out of the car. Before she knew it, he was on the other side. She stepped out of the silver vehicle and into the displeasing cold air. After taking a few steps, she was going to thank Justin for taking her to the rink, but her foot caught hold of a sheet of thin ice and she once again lost her balance, stopping any more than a “tha—“ from coming out of her mouth. She felt Justin’s arms around her again, but was already on the ground with him on top.
She blinked a couple times. “Ow…” she said, letting out a small chuckle. His caramel colored orbs looked down at her and smiled. She could feel his eyes tracing her features, studying every little thing on her face; the lineage of her cheeks, and the color of her eyes. She wanted so desperately to run. His face had softened and he was beginning to lean in. Before she knew it, she was experiencing her first kiss.
The butterflies in her stomach turned into a stampede of elephants.

Selena put on her dark jean jacket and gathered her books. She let out a soft sigh as she shut her locker and began to walk toward the exit. Just as she got outside, a light vibration went off in her pocket. She picked up the small, black device and read her dad’s text. “Sweetie, I won’t be able to pick you up. Is it okay if you could walk home? They extended my shift lol.”
Selena let out a laugh at the last word. Her fingers moved against the screen, “It’s fine, dad. I’ll walk home…. And you’re weird. Love you.” She put her phone back in her back pocket and started walking, only to bump against somebody.
He caught hold of her before either of them could slip. “Oh,” his eyes stared back at her. “Hey,” he mumbled, smiling. “You okay?”
Selena smiled at him as she steadied herself. “How can I not be when you’re always there to catch me?” she let out a small laugh. “Your hair,” she clutched her Chemistry book to her chest. “You dyed it darker. It looks nice.”
He chuckled, staring deep into her eyes as if he were in a trance. Selena felt like prey in an open area, but something about the stare made her feel like smiling. He shook his head and removed his eyes, averting his gaze to the ground as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Thanks.”
Selena smiled and nodded in response. “Well, I better get going.” She began to walk past him as he turned around.
“Wait,” he said. “You’re walking?” Selena nodded.
He looked at the silver convertible that was parked next to him and then at her, smiling. “Do you have to be home?”
Selena started to turn her body around slowly, raising her eyebrow. “No… why?”
“Get in,” he nodded toward the car and opened the driver’s side of the door. He looked at her, “It’s your first day, and we should make it special. Plus, you need to be introduced to this town properly.” He flashed her another smile.
Selena looked around and then at the car. “Well,”
“Come on,” he simply said while getting in the car.
Selena sighed and got in, hiding a smile that was threatening to be on her lips.
***
“So where exactly are you talking me?” Selena’s voice arose from the passenger side after a small period of silence. The radio was on, but the music was barely whispering to them. Justin ignored it, and glanced at her and then at the road in front of him. “I have hockey practice,” he said, keeping his eyes on the road. “I was thinking maybe you’d want to see the rink.” He looked over and saw Selena’s expression. He chuckled, “Don’t worry, it’s worth it, I promise.”
***
Selena’s mouth opened in awe slightly as she let out a small gasp. “Wow,” she said quietly, walking down the steps of the bleachers, behind Justin. There was a red and black painted zamboni on the ice; it had just got done cutting it.
“This is pretty cool,” Selena let out a small chuckle. Her smile was huge and she could tell it was, so she stopped quickly and looked at Justin.
He smiled. “Yeah, well. I have to go change and be down there,” he nodded toward the ice. “You can explore or… wait. I’ll drop you back home?”
Selena nodded. “Uh, yeah, it’s fine. I have homework to do anyways,” she said lifting her Chem book up. “I’ll wait for you.”
He nodded, smiling at her. “Alright.”

“Selena! You have school in an hour! Get up and get dressed so I can drop you off!” her father’s voice boomed. Selena walked out of the bathroom when she shivered slightly from the cold air that was hitting her wet body. “Alright!” she said back, cracking her room door open a little. She closed it shut and turned around, leaning her back against it gently as she clutched onto the towel on her body and sighed quietly scanning her bed. She didn’t know why she was nervous, it was just a her first day of school. Besides, she knew Amy. And Justin… somewhat. She shook her head at the memory of her dancing with him a couple nights ago.
He probably had forgotten about her, she thought as she dropped her towel and changed into a black tank top. She put on a long, deep olive colored sweater whose sleeves reached down to her wrists. She looked at them and noticed the faded scars. Letting out another breath, she closed her eyes and put on a pair of black tights. She put on some black boots and a small silver heart pendent that her grandmother had given to her. She looked at the time on her side table and quickly went towards her dresser, putting on eyeliner and glossing her lips lightly. Her hair was already curled from earlier, so she tied it up high, letting some of her loose dyed blue strands hang off the side. She just got done putting on some hooped earrings when her father’s voice erupted from downstairs again.
“I’m coming,” she said loud enough so he could hear. Grabbing a small side bag in which he had folders and unwritten notebooks in, she head downstairs.
“Nervous?” her dad asked, opening the door as he watched his daughter put on a small jacket.
Selena shot him a glare and sighed. She wasn’t going to lie to herself. “Not entirely… though I would feel more at ease if it wasn’t the middle of the semester,” she replied, getting into the car. The car ride to her high school wasn’t very long, just about five minutes maybe, since it was a small town. And that too was because of the snow. She quickly got out the car and walked over to the driver’s sad, leaning down as her dad opened the window. “Are you going to pick me up?” she laughed shortly after, realizing her question was stupid. “Yes, after work. See you later, sweetheart.”
Selena wandered into the halls of the building. It looked just like any other high school. Luckily no one stared at her in the halls. A group of boys whistled at her, but she rolled her eyes without once looking back. But once she got to class it was different. She had fourth period lunch, so before she knew it, half the day was over. Once she entered the cafeteria, she scanned the long line.
Sighing, she started to walk toward an empty table, clutching onto her English book rather tightly as she could feel eyes on her. A familiar voice saved her from the uneasy tension; Amy’s.
“Selena! Over here!” she said aloud, calling her over to her table. Selena made her way over and sat down next to her, giving her a small smile. “We have the same lunch period,” Amy said, smiling as she drank out of her water bottle, “This is cool!”
Selena let out a small chuckle. “Yeah,” she said placing her book on the table in front of her. She was introduced to two others girls and another boy who seemed polite, but his attention was focused on Amy completely rather than Selena and she liked it. This is when somebody came and sat in front of her. He was wearing a red and blue plaid button down shirt and had dark black hair. It was when he looked into Selena’s eyes that she almost caught her breath. His eyes were piercing blue and covered with thick, dark lashes.
He shot her a smile. “Hi,” he said, reaching his hand out. “I’m Tanner.”
Selena smiled at him slightly as she took his hand in hers. “New girl,” she replied with slight laughter, trying to be humorous.
“Selena,” Amy chirped it, nudging Selena’s arm and laughing a little. “Isn’t her hair cool?”
“Wicked,” Tanner replied, grinning. He looked down at her book skeptically, “You’re not eating?”
She shook her head. “Not hungry,” she said. He nodded. “Well,” he said standing up and facing the others. “I’m gonna go grab lunch, I’ll be back.” And with that, he left to the line. Amy began a heated discussion about something that had happened at the New Year’s party that Selena was oblivious too, so she rested her head on her hand and looked around the cafeteria, trying to see if she could find who she was looking for. Her eyes caught the back of a boy in a bright yellow shirt and dark jeans with black supras whose tongues seemed to stick out and hold the jeans in place. His head was dyed a dark brown color. When he turned around, he caught eyes with Selena.
It was Justin.
Selena sent him a small smile, and he started to walk toward her, but got pulled back by a girl who he seemed to be arguing with. He looked around and took her outside the cafeteria without looking at Selena.

Can I get a few notes to post the next chapter? :)
Sorry for the lack of posts, asdfghjkl. I’ve been busy with school work and just out of it, but I didn’t stop writing.
SO.
I’m going to do a mini marathon and post lots for you guys tonight. :)
Justin followed Selena’s gaze to the clock. She kept it there for a while, her body slowly moving with his to the beat of the music. He had just realized that they had been slow dancing to every song that played, even the fast paced ones. He didn’t care. He continued to watch her brown eyes. Then, without thinking, he leaned his head down toward her and whispered near her ear, “I will make a huge impact in your life.”
He felt her get still in his arms.
What did he just say? Why did he say it? Shit, Justin, he thought to himself.
***
Selena felt Justin’s soft breath tickle the skin near her ear. When those words had caressingly slipped out from his lips, she felt like falling. Her stomach did a few flips and she felt a rush of color come over her face. She slowly turned her eyes onto his. She looked directly into them. “That’s a pretty bold statement,” she began moving again as a slower song played.
“Well, I guess I’m just going to be straight up with you and tell you I will.”
She didn’t know what to think at this moment. All she knew was that he was making her smile. No one in her entire life had said or done anything like this to her and she liked it. She was intrigued by this boy’s personality and confidence. Was it wrong to be falling for someone she just met? “Bad or good?” she asked, not knowing what to say. Her eyes traveled down to their feet as she watched them slowly move, her arms still placed around his neck.
“No. Why go into someone’s life if you’re going to make a bad impact?” She could feel him staring down at her, but gently. She shrugged.
“Some people are mean,” she whispered softly.
“They deserve the hate,” he said, watching her. “Now… what else should I know about Selena?” he put his finger under her chin and slightly lifted her face up so he could stare at it again.
Selena couldn’t help but smile. “I like detailed people,” she said, choosing her words carefully, “Oh, and I’m bipolar,” she let out a small laugh. “I get serious mood drops,” she stated.
“I like detailed people and bipolar? Oh,” Justin let out a soft chuckle. “This will be fun.”
“What are YOU like, mister?” Selena asked, looking at him.
Justin tilted his head slightly and continued to look at her. After a couple seconds, he spoke. “Why can’t you just stay in my life and find out?” His voice was soft, almost in a whisper. It was delicate and it carried a strong message to her that she couldn’t quite interpret at the spot. But again, a parade of butterflies entered her stomach. All she could do was smile and look down.
The music had stopped playing and people were beginning to count down, into the New Year. Selena and Justin had ended up outside for this, to watch the fireworks but they were still facing each other. She couldn’t keep her eyes off of him and he was staring right back at her. They had stopped moving and her heart was starting to close.
***
Justin noticed a crystal drop fall out of her eye and watched it slide down the plump of her cheek. She looked down. He was about to speak up, but the countdown wouldn’t allow him to. Actually, before he could do anything, she excused herself and left.
Justin stared at her direction, watching her push past a few people and then disappear out of sight.
“Two… one…” and the noise took over.
“Yeah,” he mumbled. “Happy New Year.”
